A young woman is haunted by her past in the trailer for the upcoming psychological thriller “Bethany”, starring Shannen Doherty and Tom Green.
The scary new movie follows a woman named Claire (Stephanie Estes) who moves back into her childhood home, only to be haunted by the traumatic memories of her abusive late mother (Shannen Doherty).
As she begins to unravel at home, Claire begins to find herself mixed up in the past as a mysterious figure from her memories seems to be reaching out to her in the present. Playing against type, Canadian funnyman Green co-stars in a more serious role as Claire’s psychiatrist in the movie.
Set to be released on VOD on April 7, “Bethany” was filmed in 2015, shortly before star Doherty revealed she was battling breast cancer. But the actress isn’t letting her illness stop her from working, most recently joining the TV reboot of her 1988 big screen black comedy “Heathers”.
Last year, she told the “Dr. Oz Show” her cancer diagnosis wouldn’t keep her from acting.
“I think that people think that I’m ‘sick’ and therefore I’m unable to perform,” she admitted. “There will be that recovery time and that I just have to take for myself. But it’s also because you do change a little bit while you’re on the medicine. You gain weight, and there is nothing that you can do about it… and I think that all affects a career like mine that’s not only based on talent, but it’s so much based on sort of the superficial shell that is right here.”
