It’s no surprise that many couples break up on Valentine’s Day — ironically a day of love — but James Corden never expected hearts to bleed on the “Late Late Show”.
A new sketch from Tuesday’s edition of the show saw Corden invite a woman on stage, who talked about her loving boyfriend stationed overseas. Corden surprised the audience member with her one true love, flown to sweep her off her feet and go down on one knee.
The gentlemen proposed to his girlfriend, as “Girls” star Andrew Rannells set hearts ablaze with his rendition of Bruno Mars’ “Marry You”. Confetti rained down on the talk-show set, but all wasn’t as adorable as expected. Corden cut the celebration short when he realized the pair were fighting because the woman shot down the proposal.
“Hang on. Don’t be upset. You said you were 100 per cent. 100 per cent is 100 per cent,” Corden told the man. “Clearly, this is a complete disaster. We spent a fortune on this. Andrew flew from London two hours early to rehearse this… we bought you a cruise! We wanted to send you on a honeymoon!”
In a tirade of fury, the recent Grammys host hurled an oversized $10,000 cheque through a castle of champagne glasses.
Corden, 38, had a blast hosting the 59th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday. He even injected some “Carpool Karaoke” into the awards show, leading stars and the entirety of the Staples Center through a live performance of “Sweet Caroline”.
