With a new spread in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit and a hot date with a Twitter fan, life seems to be looking up for Genie Bouchard.
ET Canada sat down with the Canadian tennis star, 22, on Thursday to talk about her courtside date with Twitter fan, John Goehrke, at the Brooklyn Nets game, in response to her losing a Super Bowl bet.
Speaking about her reasoning behind bringing Goehrke to the basketball game, Bouchard said, “I thought it would be less awkward than a sit-down, one-on-one dinner, where we would have to make conversation the whole time.”
“I was a little nervous to meet him,” Bouchard admitted. “I think this was my first blind date ever.” When asked if she would consider going on a second date with Geohrke, the tennis champ responded, “I’m open to that, yeah.”
Meanwhile, Bouchard continues to do the press rounds for her new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit feature alongside fellow tennis star, Serena Williams. “I was so happy and so honoured that they wanted me to be in the magazine,” she gushed. “I followed it for years, and I was excited that finally I could have a chance to be in it.”
“The issue covers every kind of body type, and I think that’s great,” she added. “We have five athletes in it – three tennis players, two gymnasts. I think it’s great to show that strong females can be in an issue of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit.”
For the new issue, Bouchard also poses topless, which she admitted was nerve-wracking at the time. “It was the first time I ever did a shoot where I was posing topless,” she said. “I was like everyone’s already seen everything after that, so all the other shots after with a full bikini were actually not intimidating at all.”
