Following a very public split from her fiance, Australian billionaire James Packer, Mariah Carey is opening up about finding new love in her life.
During an interview with the Associated Press on Thursday, the 46-year-old pop diva divulged information on her new relationship with her backup dancer, Bryan Tanaka. “I would say he’s my boyfriend,” Carey confirmed, jokingly adding, “but now you’re going to make a whole dramatic thing.”
“I’m just going to be like, ‘I really don’t talk about my personal life,’ because that’s what I used to do and it really worked for a minute,” she said. “So, to answer your question, I just don’t feel comfortable talking about my personal life.”
Carey, who shared a photo of her posing in a hottub with Tanaka on Valentine’s Day, also talked about her brand new single and music video, “I Don’t”, featuring rapper YG. In the video, the songstress sets a wedding dress on fire, and throws up her middle finger, which bears a ring that looks very much like the $10-million diamond engagement ring given to her by her ex-fiance.
“It was fun and it wasn’t that very expensive one that they think it is,” Carey said about the $250,000 custom Valentino dress she had made for her wedding. “You shouldn’t be wasteful, so I’m going to do something with charity and wedding dresses, I think.”
