If Natalie Portman winds up winning her second Oscar for “Jackie”, the award will be accepted by somebody else on her behalf.
That’s because Portman, who won her first Oscar for “Black Swan” in 2011, will be sitting out Sunday’s ceremony and Saturday’s Independent Spirit Awards because of her pregnancy.
“Due to my pregnancy, I am unable to attend the Independent Spirit Awards and the Academy Awards,” Natalie said in a statement to People. “I feel so lucky to be honoured among my fellow nominees and wish them the most beautiful of weekends.”
While Portman has been dressing up her baby bump on the red carpet at numerous events during award season, the 35-year-old actress is expecting her second child with husband Benjamin Millepied; the couple are already parents to a five-year-old son, Aleph.
For those placing bets, the odds of Portman winning her second Oscar are pegged at 8-1, while the frontrunner in the Best Actress category is “La La Land” star Emma Stone, with oddsmakers placing her chances of winning at 2/11.
