“The Late Late Show” host James Corden made his comedy host debut on Canadian soil on Saturday at the 5th Annual Laugh Out Loud charity event and may have lined up his next “Carpool Karaoke” guest – our own Sangita Patel!
Corden was in Mississauga, Ontario, over the weekend at a comedy event in support of Trillium Health Partners, a fundraiser that raised over $1.1 million in support of the organization’s My Hospital Fund project. While Corden was here for a good cause, he couldn’t help dishing on which celebs he’d like to belt out some tunes with on future fan-favourite “Carpool Karaoke” segments or the recently announced standalone series on Apple Music.
Speaking with Sangita Patel, Corden listed his dream guests.
“Beyonce. And U2. And Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith. All the same people,” he says, adding, “Barbra Streisand!”
Corden might be eager to share his dream invite list, but he’s keeping mum on whom he doesn’t want on the show, alluding that there are a few unwelcome guests.
“Who would we not invite? Well, that would be unkind to say but our rules are that they have to have a lot of hits and I have to be a fan!” he explains.
From Adele and Justin Bieber to Michelle Obama and Sia, Corden’s carpool has racked up some impressive guests, singing everything from Spice Girls to Missy Elliott.
So, does Sangita have what it takes to earn a seat in the next “Carpool Karaoke”?
She goes for the romantic 1972 song, “Let’s Stay Together” by Al Green in an attempt to woo herself a “Carpool Karaoke” invite.
“This is far too a romantic song song for us to sing together,” Corden tells her. “It would be really weird! Because you’re married and I’m married and our partners would be like, ‘What is my husband doing?!’ And your husband would be like ‘What’s my wife going to work and singing this Al Green song for?'” he laughs.
