Adele opted to cut the fireworks from the Australia stretch of her tour after an accident involving her 4-year-old son Angelo.
The “Hello” songstress had to break the news to her Perth crowd of how the expected fireworks fizzled out, “Up until last night, we did have fireworks for you.” The combustible visual display was supposed to launch following Adele’s performance of “Set Fire to the Rain”, according to Australian media outlet The Music.
The 28-year-old singer explained to the crowd how a soundcheck went very wrong for her little Angelo, “My son was watching [soundcheck] in the crowd… a bit of debris went in his eye so we got rid of them.
Though the crowd could likely sympathize with Adele’s concern for her child and those in attendance, it didn’t quench their hunger for a fiery display. After asking the crowd if they wanted to see fireworks, the audience erupted in cheers. “Alright, we’ll do it next time,” she said.
Adele is currently wrapping up her Adele 2017 Live tour with select dates in Australia, New Zealand and the U.K. from now through July 2.
