While getting personal for the new issue of Rolling Stone Magazine, Ed Sheeran gave fans a little inside scoop on life on the road when he toured with Taylor Swift back in 2013.
The singer confessed that sometimes he would hook up with Swift’s infamous squad, “Taylor’s world is celebrity. I was this 22-year-old awkward British kid going on tour with the biggest artist in America, who has all these famous mates. It was very easy… I would often find myself in situations just kind of waking up and looking over and being like, ‘How the f**k did that happen?'”
But even years after the “Red” tour Sheeran says that he and Swift still have an unbreakable bond.
“I was just living in a country that I didn’t belong in, in a town I didn’t really know anymore. She would be there if everything ended for me. Taylor is kind of an anomaly in that sense. She’s omnipresent because she’s the most famous woman in the world, so she can’t make the decision to not be in the press. I always stick up for Taylor,” Sheeran said.
Sheeran isn’t only a part T-Swift’s squad, he is also close friends with Canadian pop-star Justin Bieber. The 26-year-old opened up about Bieber’s recent sobriety, “He’s in a very good place – very sober, very present. There’s been a 180 that’s happened, and there’s no diva behaviour whatsoever. It really suits him.”
Despite having all these famous friends, Sheeran revealed he’s not crazy about the fame himself, but says his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn keeps him grounded.
“It’s awesome meeting famous people. But that’s not life,” revealed Sheeran. “That’s not reality. One day this will f**king end. And I know the one person that’s going to remain constant is Cherry. I should just enjoy this while it’s there, but not let it become my reality. Because that’s not the reality I want to live in.”
The singer proved he’s always the gentleman, when he recently gave his running shoes to Cherry to wear following an after-party since her feet were hurting from wearing heels.
Sheeran’s issue of Rolling Stone hits newsstands on Friday, March 10.
