If you thought Justin Bieber was the ultimate bad boy, think again.
Nick Carter, 37, revealed the Backstreet Boys’ rowdy past in an interview with Elle and says Bieber’s bad boy antics pale in comparison. “I’ll tell you this: There is some s**t that AJ [McLean] and I both did that I’m really glad that social media wasn’t around for,” the boy band member teased. “Because Justin Bieber couldn’t hold a candle to what we did.”
Bieber, 23, has developed quite the reputation for his misdeeds. He was arrested for a DUI and accused of vandalism, both in 2014. In April 2015, a warrant was issued for his arrest in Argentina after Bieber failed to appear in court to give testimony on an alleged assault on a photographer. Just this past February, authorities revealed they were investigating the “Cold Water” singer for allegedly head-butting a man in West Hollywood.
Bieber and the Backstreet Boys come from two different eras, however, and Carter’s band mate McLean explained how lucky the band was to not have their worst incidents make national news. “We would have been like TMZ’s saving grace, bro… just anything from me being drunk or irate at a club,” McLean said. “Or me walking naked down the hallway in a hotel for no apparent reason.”
The Backstreet Boys recently launched their “Larger Than Life” residency at The Axis at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas and are scheduled to perform at the ACM’s Country Music’s Party of the Year with Florida Georgia Line.
