A man accused of repeatedly stalking Taylor Swift has been arrested in New York.
ET Canada can confirm that 29-year-old Mohammed Jaffar has been arrested on charges of burglary and stalking. Court documents say that Jaffar intended on meeting the “Shake It Off” singer face-to-face. From January to February of this year, the accused is said to have called Swift’s management company approximately 59 times and left a series of voicemails.
A witness says the defendant managed to enter the building of Swift’s $20-million Tribeca penthouse apartment on February 6 and lingered in the hallway. He eventually made his way to the building’s roof, a visit which is believed to have lasted four hours.
One week later Jaffar is alleged to have returned to her building, ringing the 23-year-old’s doorbell for roughly one hour. The same witness apparently told the District Attorney’s Office they confronted Jaffar and told him to leave the premises.
Nevertheless, the accused allegedly showed up the following evening and spent 45 minutes ringing on the “Bad Blood” songstress’s doorbell. He showed up one last time the day after that. Jaffar was arrested on one count of burglary in the second degree, two counts of attempted burglary in the second degree and one count of stalking in the fourth degree. His bail was set at $20,000 cash or bond.
Swift’s friend Gigi Hadid had her own stalker scare in 2015 at her New York property. The man in Hadid’s case — Marcell Porter — was committed to a psychiatric facility last October.
