After nearly 18 years of marriage, the flames between David and Victoria Beckham is still burning bright.
The Spice Girl-turned-designer couldn’t help but gush about her retired soccer player in a new interview with the “Today Show”, which aired Friday morning.
Sitting down with anchor Savannah Guthrie, Victoria referred to her longtime love — whom she met at a Manchester United match in 1997 — as her “soulmate”, saying that David is “the most incredible husband. We complement each other.”
“He inspires me every day, with the children, the way he treats me,” she continued. “It just works. We are lucky to have each other.”
The longevity of their marriage is just as impressive considering the lucrative empire they’ve managed to build over the years as they welcomed four adorable children. “It is a juggling act constantly,” she admitted. “I’m lucky that David is the most fantastic father and husband, and he’s great. We’re very equal at home, and we’re a really, really good team.”
As for raising their brood of future superstars, the Beckhams are just as strict with Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper as any other parents, Victoria revealed. “I’m definitely not a pushover, and neither is David. You know, we are strict with the children,” she added. “They are happy kids, but they’re polite children.”
And, of course, it wouldn’t be a thorough Q&A without a few probing questions regarding the status of the long-rumoured Spice Girls reunion. Unfortunately, Victoria offered up some disappointing news for the group’s eager fans. “There won’t be a reunion because I think that when we performed at the Olympics, it was so great. And that was us, celebrating everything that we had achieved,” the 42-year-old explained before insisting bad blood no longer existed between her and the girls. “But I still talk to the other girls. We’re still very close. But I think you need to—you need to know when it’s time to actually say, ‘That was great, we achieved a lot.’ And everybody moves on.”
Victoria, who is launching an upcoming collection with U.S retailer Target next month, paid tribute to her pop star roots earlier this week when she released an ad for the campaign featuring the Spice Girls’ 1997 hit “Spice Up Your Life”.
Beckham offered media and fashion lovers a special preview of the near-200-piece collection on Thursday, giving fans an excellent reason to mark the April 9th debut on their style calendars. In what will likely end up selling out in stores and online, Beckham is offering shoppers a chance to nab spring-ready items featuring her sophisticated yet playful silhouettes at discount prices — for women and girls.
