Disney’s live-action adaptation of “Beauty and the Beast” is breaking multiple box-office records with a whopping $170 million for opening weekend domestically, plus an additional $180 million overseas.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film has already set several records including the biggest domestic opening ever for a PG title and the number one March opening of all time.
In second place is Brie Larson and Tom Hiddleston’s “Kong: Skull Island”, which raked in an extra $28.9 million for a domestic total of $110.1 million. “Logan” rounds out the top three with another $17.5 million for a domestic total of $184 million.
“Get Out” and “The Shack” came in fourth and fifth respectively.
The brand new “Beauty and the Beast” has been getting solid reviews from fans and critics, with praise going to it’s well-rounded cast including Emma Watson, Luke Evans, Josh Gad and Ewan McGregor.
