All suspicions were confirmed early Friday morning when Kendrick Lamar dropped “The Heart Part 4”, a new track from the artist’s heavily anticipated new album. Give it a listen.
Kendrick Lamar’s recent and mysterious Instagram post started the rumour mill churning, leading many to believe he could be dropping new music soon.
On Thursday, the rapper posted a photo on Instagram that simply reads “IV”. No caption, no follow up so far and no additional information had been released.
He had, however, deleted any previous photos or videos he uploaded to Instagram. At the time, that was the only photo on his account for his 4.1 million followers.
“IV” is possibly in reference to his fourth album. So far, the rapper has released “Section.80” in 2011, “good kid, m.A.A.d city” in 2012 and “To Pimp a Butterfly” in 2015. This would be his fourth official LP.
All Def Digital reached out to Lamar and shared a text of him confirming the upcoming album on Twitter on Thursday. Not only did he confirm the album, but it’s apparently dropping on Thursday at some point.
Earlier in March, he discussed working on the upcoming album and what kind of vibe he is going for.
In an interview with T: The New York Times Style Magazine, “I think now, how wayward things have gone within the past few months, my focus is ultimately going back to my community and the other communities around the world where they’re doing the groundwork,” he revealed.
Here’s a sampling of the reaction to hit social media following Lamar hinting at a new album:
