While chatting with Hello!, Angelina Jolie gets candid about the life of her beloved late mother.
The 41-year-old actress tells the magazine that despite her own flashy lifestyle, her mom Marcheline Bertrand’s was far from that. After leaving husband Jon Voight, she raised the star and her brother, James, all by herself in Los Angeles.
“My mother was a very natural woman,” says Jolie. “She never spoiled herself, hardly wore makeup and wore modest jewellery.”
“But she always had a few special items for when she wanted to feel like a lady,” she adds. “One of those special items – and I remember it, because it seemed so elegant – was her Guerlain powder.”
And now Jolie is now the spokesperson for a new fragrance from Guerlain and she’s donated her modelling fee to charity.
Jolie’s mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died from breast and ovarian cancer in 2007, she was 56.
“I think it speaks of all women having those few special things that make them feel feminine. And so, when I was a little girl I would associate Guerlain with that.”
The actor/director was announced as the face of Mon Guerlain’s fragrance this past January.
Not only does she talk about her own mother in the new interview, but Jolie also touches on what it’s like for herself as a mother of six and what she hopes for the future of her kids.
“I imagine I will spend my days travelling from country to country to visit our children, who I expect will live around the world,” she reveals. “I think some will be interested in the international work I do, and I would love to partner with them as I continue. I imagine I will be less involved in film and be focused more on family and foreign affairs.”
Jolie and ex-husband Brad Pitt share six kids, Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10 and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8.
