Meghan Markle has shut down her lifestyle blog The Tig after three years.
The actress, humanitarian and girlfriend of Prince Harry made the announcement on the site Friday with the statement: “After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it’s time to say goodbye to The Tig. What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity. You’ve made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy. Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being ‘the change you wish to see in the world.’ Above all, don’t ever forget your worth – as I’ve told you time and time again: you, my sweet friend, you are enough. Thank you for everything.”
Markle, 35, previously described her blog, which she started in 2014 as, “A hub for the discerning palate, those with a hunger for food, travel, fashion and beauty.”
Thank you to all the supporters of The Tig! From followers to contributors, you have become friends ❤ It is YOU who have made this Tig community so special. And even though I haven't met most of you, for three years I've seen your faces and read your comments and hugged you from afar. (Domi, Em, Hannah, Sol, Iris, Doris, Jessy, Simone, Cassy….and so many more! I will always be grateful for your support). Go to @thetigofficial or thetig.com to see our official send-off. Sending all the love xx MM #TigFarewell
Her public profile has skyrocketed since beginning her relationship with Prince Harry, so much so the Royal was prompted to issue a public statement condemning the invasion of her privacy and the treatment of her by tabloid press.
While there’s speculation Markle is pulling the plug on the blog for privacy reasons, sources close to her tell Entertainment Tonight she simply wants to focus more time and effort on her show “Suits” as well as her humanitarian efforts. The actress has been a Global Ambassador for World Vision, since February 2016. She recently travelled to India on a mission to empower women and girls.
The actress and her prince have spent the first part of 2017 doing some globetrotting, checking out the Northern Lights in Norway in January, before Markle accompanied Prince Harry to a friend’s wedding in Jamaica in March. Rumours have been swirling the couple will eventually become engaged.
