“The Real Housewives Of New York” star Bethenny Frankel is in hot water after posting about swimming with dolphins.
The 46-year-old reality TV star was in the Bahamas with her 6-year-old daughter Bryn Hoppy when she gushed over swimming with dolphins on Instagram.
“How is everyone? We’re going to swim with the dolphins today! Yay!” she said in an Instagram story, later posting a video of the dolphins in the crystal blue water. “See those dolphins out there?” she says in the video, which has since been removed from her social media page.
Frankel was all smiles in her sunny vacation posts but her fans were quick to point out the cruel realities of “swim with dolphins” programs.
“I love you Bethenny, but you should really educate yourself on the realities of these ‘swim with the dolphins programs,'” a user posted in the comments. “These are incredible smart animals that do not belong in captivity.”
“You rock but you should know better. Watch the docu on dolphin capture. You’re so smart. Can’t believe you would give your $$ to this terrible program for these poor babies,” another fan commented.
The Humane Society has condemned activities that allow people to swim with dolphins, noting the animals held in captivity are “commercially exploited.”
Since her original posting, Frankel has responded to her online critics, writing she was unaware the animals were part of a captive swim program.
