“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” star Riz Ahmed battle-rapped his fellow countryman James Corden on “The Late Late Show”.
“Drop the Mic” has become a staple of the late-night talk show, but Corden may have bit off more than he could chew this time. The talk show host does have a musical background, but his opponent is a Jedi Knight of hip hop!
“The Night Of” and “Nightcrawler” star Ahmed is actually a critically acclaimed rapper — performing solo under the name Riz MC and as a member of hip hop group Swet Shop Boys. The Swet Shop Boys are even on the 2017 Coachella lineup.
Corden poked fun at Ahmed’s “Rogue One” role when he rapped, “I know ruining a ‘Star Wars’ movie is seen as unlawful, but here’s a Rogue One spoiler — in it, he’s awful. Honestly it’s mean to say in Star Wars he stinks, but he made me miss the days of Jar Jar Binks.”
But Ahmed was quick to retort, “Yeah I did do ‘Star Wars’, bet that made you mad, too bad they weren’t trying to cast Jabba the Hutt’s Dad.”
The British-Pakastani actor and rapper also poked fun at Corden’s figure, “Your favourite football team is West Ham United. He heard the word ham and he got mad excited.”
