It’s been a few years since we’ve heard any new music from Nickelback, but the band came back with a vengeance on Wednesday with the release of a hard-driving new single and accompanying video, “Feed the Machine”.
Set in a dystopian, post-apocalyptic future where machines have imprisoned humans (think “The Matrix” and “The Terminator”), Chad Kroeger and his fellow band members are depicted as freedom-fighting revolutionaries who free the enslaved humans from their machine captors in the video (above).
“Feed the Machine” is the title track from the band’s forthcoming album (their first studio album since 2014’s “No Fixed Address”), which is set to be released on June 16. In addition, the band revealed the release of “Feed the Machine” will be followed by a 44-city North American tour this summer, kicking off in Noblesville, Indiana, on June 23.
Canadian dates on the “Feed The Machine” tour include Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton and Calgary. Daughtry will be the opener for all the band’s U.S. tour dates, and will also open for the Toronto and Montreal shows, while Shaman’s Harvest will appear on all dates. For the Western Canadian leg of the tour, 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Cheap Trick will be opening.
More info on the upcoming album and tour can be found on the Nickelback website.
