Blake Lively let a reporter know she wanted to talk about more than just fashion at Variety‘s Power of Women event in New York on Friday.
According Variety, Lively was on the red carpet for the event on Friday morning when she told off the reporter.
“Are we really doing this? Would you ask a man that?” Lively questioned the journalist. “Become more aware, and that we change, and that we build women up. So, you can ask me another question.”
Part of the red carpet moment was captured in a video posted to Twitter by a USA Today editor.
The actress who was recognized for her fight against child pornography with the Child Rescue Coalition at the event, also talked with Variety about her concerns about what’s happening with the Trump administration: “There’s a lot that’s worrying me [about the current administration] as a woman and a mother. I feel like there’s an awakening that’s happened… We can’t just retweet things. We have to do something about it.”
Lively is among several women, including Jessica Chastain and Chelsea Clinton, who were singled out by Variety as the most powerful women in New York, thanks to their charity work.
