O-Town Returns After A 16-Year Hiatus: ‘We Found A Chemistry With Each Other That We Didn’t Have’

After a whopping 16-year hiatus, the boys of O-Town are back with some brand new music for their fans.

ET Canada sat down with the talented foursome, who saw huge success in the early 2000s, to talk about their early beginnings, finding fame and coming back together years down the road.

“We had crappy contracts,” Dan Miller recalls from the group’s first days together after being formed during the first season of the MTV-produced reality television show, “Making the Band”. “But, at the time, we wanted to get into the business and we were like, you know, we get to a certain level of fame and fix all that up. [But,] it never really got to the point where we were able to fix it up.”

Miller adds, “We were able to move on, and now we’re here. We’ve been able to learn from all those mistakes that we made back in the day and take all those hard lessons we learned and really put it into making it into a successful venture for us this time around.”

While four out of the five original members eventually came back together to release their new single, “Empty Space”, Erik-Michael Estrada admits that the group was initially fearful doing it without their fellow boy band member, Ashley Parker Angel.

“Ash was obviously the face of the band when we were younger, and definitely the most popular of us,” Estrada explains. “We got back together and he didn’t want to do it, so we kind of questioned whether we were going to be able to do it as a foursome.”

He adds, “But slowly, over the course of the last three years, all of those questions have been answered. We found a chemistry with each other that we didn’t have when we were doing it originally. So, this is, in a sense, a new band, but we sing classic cuts.”

The group’s current members, Erik-Michael Estrada, Dan Miller, Trevor Penick and Jacob Underwood, are currently embarking on a series of live shows across North America, including a show at Toronto’s Mod Club on April 25.
