Caitlyn Jenner is considering dipping her toe in politics.
Jenner, 67, spoke at the Imagining Men & Women: Caitlyn Jenner on Transgender Identity and Courage event in New York City on Tuesday, April 25. The “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star was promoting her new memoir but found the conversation drifting towards politics.
The extent of her political involvement will ultimately be dictated by how she can best help the transgender community, according to CNN. “And so, over the next year or two, I would look at where I can be more effective to helping my community.”
Jenner recently told HBO’s “Any Given Wednesday” that her allegiance isn’t necessarily with Donald Trump. “I am here, since I’m on the Republican side, to help the entire Republican party do a better job when it comes to LBGT issues,” she confessed. “They have not been as good when it comes to LBGT issues and social issues.”
When asked if she would consider running for office at her event on Tuesday, Jenner laughed, saying, “I’ve got way too many skeletons in my closet.”
But she definitely chewed on the idea. “Would I be better working from the inside?” Jenner added. “If that is the case… I would seriously look at a run. It just depends where I could be more effective.”
