Nicolas Cage is being treated in Los Angeles after reportedly breaking his ankle on set.
According to Deadline, the 53-year-old actor was filming writer-director York Alec Shackleton’s bank heist film, “#211”, at an undisclosed location near Sofia, Bulgaria, when he broke his ankle in an alleged “freak accident” and was rushed to a “top hospital” in the city nearby.
While the film’s production companies, Millennium Films and Nu Image, have yet to clarify how the incident took place, Deadline reports that the Academy Award winner insisted on returning to Los Angeles to be treated, despite local doctors wanting to perform surgery, and is hoping to return to set within the next two weeks.
Cage’s new film, which has reportedly been halted until further notice, will follow the star as he plays a good cop trying to prevent a bank heist. The busy star also has a number of other films in the works, including “Vengeance: A Love Story”, “The Humanity Bureau” and “Mom And Dad”.
