Val Kilmer is acknowledging his battle with cancer after months of denying any serious health issues.
The “Batman Forever” star got candid in a Reddit AMA (Ask me Anything) this past Wednesday. One Reddit user asked the actor to clarify comments Kilmer’s “The Ghost and the Darkness” co-star Michael Douglas made.
Douglas previously alleged that Kilmer was dealing with oral cancer. “Things don’t look too good for him,” Douglas said at a Q&A in London in October. “My prayers are with him. That’s why you haven’t heard too much from Val lately.”
“A while ago, Michael Douglas claimed you had terminal cancer,” the Reddit user asked. “What was the story behind that?”
“He was probably trying to help me cause press probably asked where I was these days, and I did have a healing of cancer, but my tongue is still swollen although healing all the time,” Kilmer answered.
“Because I don’t sound my normal self yet people think I may still be under the weather.”
When Douglas broke the news about Kilmer’s cancer, the 57-year-old was initially quick to deny it. “I love Michael Douglas but he is misinformed,” the ‘Top Gun’ star wrote.
Val Kilmer made his return to the big screen, following a three year hiatus, in 2017’s “Song to Song”.
