Fans of Ed Sheeran and “Game of Thrones” viewers received a spoiler-y surprise from the “Thinking Out Loud” singer when he dropped a small nugget of info about his upcoming cameo on the HBO hit that was actually more of a bombshell.
As the Daily Mail reports, Sheeran was chatting with The Hits Radio when he revealed some key information about his appearance on the show’s seventh season, slated to return on July 16.
“I do a scene with Maisie,” said Sheeran, revealing he’ll be onscreen with star Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark. “I sing a song and then she goes, ‘Oh, that’s a nice song.'”
Sheeran didn’t spill any more details about his appearance, such as what that “nice song” might be, but in a previous interview he did tease the length of his cameo, revealing “I’m only in it for like five minutes.”
Sheeran’s cameo on the show, revealed “Game of Thrones” exec producer David Benioff, can be credited to Williams, a huge Sheeran fan, explaining that the singer’s casting was a gift to her.
“For years we tried to get Ed Sheeran on the show to surprise Maisie and this year we finally did it,” Benioff said during a recent panel at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.
