Gord Downie Hugs It Out With The Toronto Raptor

Beloved Canadian and The Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie received a rousing applause at the Air Canade Centre.

Downie, 53, saluted fans at the Toronto Raptor’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, May 5. Fans throughout the arena, both seated and standing, can be seen clapping for Downie.

The legendary Canadian musician even hugged it out with the Air Canada Centre’s resident Toronto Raptor.

But the Raptor wasn’t the only Canadian Downie hugged it out with. He also embraced Canadian rapper-extraordinaire Drake.

Downie was presented with an official Raptor’s jersey, adorned with the treasured number “1”.

In May of last year, The Tragically Hip announced Downie had been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour. The band toured in 2016 to support their album “Man Machine Poem”. The tour’s final concert was streamed and viewed by an estimated 11.7 million people.
