Paris Hilton is answering the important questions.
The reality television star and hotel heiress sits down with W Magazine to break down her favourite trends of the 2000s. Hilton, 36, suggests she could be the inventor of this generations image: the selfie — innovating the role of a photographer.”If a beeper had a camera, I would have taken a selfie with it,” Hilton tells the publication. “I think I have a selfie from when I was a little kid, like on a disposable camera.”
The social star also elaborates on how the modern Internet has helped promote an entirely new type of celebrities. “We started a whole new genre of celebrity that no one had ever seen before,” Hilton says of her notorious rise to fame through “The Simple Life”. “Nowadays, I feel like it’s so easy becoming famous. Anybody with a phone can do it.”
Fashion, like most trends, come and go and come again. That trend is something Hilton finds really interesting. “To now see things on the runway, and to see girls wearing things that I used to wear is really cool,” she notes, “because nobody really dressed like me back in the day.”
After all, as Hilton insists, “The early 2000s were the hottest years in fashion history.”
