Miley Cyrus is making the rounds to promote her just-released single “Malibu”, and one of her stops on this media blitz was Radio Disney.
The radio arm of her one-time employer, however, had a surprise in store for her: video of her audition for “Hannah Montana”, recorded when she was just 11 years old, singing a tune called “We’re Going to the Beach”.
“You all are going to freak out,” Miley said as she watched her younger self audition for the show. “By the way, my T-shirt says ‘I should have my own TV show.’ That is so funny. That is crazy. That is a jewel. That is a gem.”
Watching herself audition for the TV sitcom that made her famous clearly placed Cyrus in a nostalgic mood.
“The first time I was ever in this building, which I drove to from Nashville with my mom…I had to sign in at the desk right there and tell them, ‘I’m here for an audition,'” Miley recalled.
“I auditioned with a song that I had written [with a friend of my dad’s] called ‘We’re Going to the Beach’,” said Cyrus. “And it was about being in Nashville and leaving to go to the beach. And that [the beach] being a paradise and a home… that’s the paradise to live. When you want to take a break you go to the beach and all your worries are gone.”
Fans can hear Miley’s entire Radio Disney interview on May 17 at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT on Radio Disney and the Radio Disney app.
