CNN anchor Anderson Cooper’s eye-roll during an interview with White House Adviser Kellyanne Conway this week went viral, but not everyone is laughing. Two-time Oscar nominee James Woods let his displeasure with Cooper be known, tweeting a homophobic remark at the journalist on Thursday night.
Woods mocks Cooper’s handling of his CNN interview with Conway, during which he rolled his eyes while she was defending President Trump’s controversial firing of FBI Director James Comey. The “Anderson Cooper 360” host hasn’t yet reacted to the crude jab.
The actor seems to have no qualms tweeting rude remarks at others on Twitter, but doesn’t seem to take it too well when he’s on the receiving end. When a Twitter user accused Woods of being a “cocaine addict” in 2015, the actor sued him for $10 million. And Woods is still pursuing the lawsuit, even though the man has since died.
Meanwhile, Conway also came out swinging on Thursday, accusing Cooper of outright sexism following his eye-roll on live TV.
“[Cooper] had me sit through a bunch of tapes showing then candidate Trump commending Jim Comey about Hillary Clinton’s emails, talking about him,” Conway said during an appearance on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends”.
“And the fact is that they showed all these clips and it showed candidate Trump in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and I said ‘Hey, thanks for the trip down memory lane,’ and talked about winning Michigan, and then he rolled his eyes,” she continued.
“Let me tell you something: Hillary Clinton is in search of sexism as an excuse for why her disastrous candidacy and campaign lost six months ago,” added Conway. “I face sexism a lot of times when I show up for interviews like that. Could you imagine having a male anchor on a network roll eyes at Hillary Clinton or a female representative spokeswoman for President Obama or President Bill Clinton? I think not.”
Despite the backlash from Woods and Conway, most of Twitter loved Cooper’s epic eye-roll:
