Katy Perry Officially Announces New Album, ‘Witness’, And Tour

Katy Perry revealed the title of her new album, “Witness”, on Twitter Monday.

“Witness” is set to drop on June 9 and will feature the singles we’ve heard so far — “Chained to the Rhythm” and “Bon Appétit” — and songs that, according to a press release, reflect Perry’s own personal changes and what is currently going on the world.

The singer also revealed she’ll be going on tour this fall. Witness: The Tour starts September 7th in Columbus, Ohio, and will run through to February 2018, closing out with a show in Vancouver. For the tour, Perry has partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America; $1 from each ticket sold for the tour will be donated to the organization.

Perry also teased the title track from the album with a brief clip on Twitter:

On Friday, Perry released the music video for her song “Bon Appétit”. The video, according to Perry’s Twitter account, is a metaphor for sexually liberating women, and includes some graphic imagery that had some viewers thinking it is an ode to cannibalism.

Perry has a few Canadian stops on the tour: Montreal on September 9, Toronto on September 12, and the aforementioned Vancouver show on February 5, 2018. Click here for more information. Tickets go on sale to the general public on May 22 for the U.S. dates and May 26 for the Canadian dates.
