Katy Perry stops by “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Tuesday and the two talk about everything going on in the singer’s very busy life.
Perry says her very new and very short bob is a result of dying her hair way too blonde and it falling out. She’s loving the new ‘do, though, which she says was also inspired by the host herself.
Perry also talks about her break from music. She says that following her Super Bowl performance in 2015 and her Prismatic World Tour, she was tired and needed to rest. She took October to June off and then in June of 2016 she began writing her new record, “Witness”. “I wrote over 40 songs and now I have 15 beautiful songs to represent this story I want to share with the world,” she says.
“It will be a full body of work and I’m very pleased and excited for you to see all the fingers and toes and bums in between,” Perry says about her new album. The singer, who gushes about being in her 30s and loving it, says her song “Bon Appétit” is about being sexually liberated, which is how she feels.
DeGeneres then addresses the rumours of Perry joining “American Idol” as a judge on the ABC reboot. Perry dodges the question. “Judge not lest he be judged,” she says in response. “But, they didn’t say anything about constructive criticism and I’m good at that,” Perry jokes.
The two also play a game of “Will You Perry Me?”, which has DeGeneres and the singer go through a stack of famous men that Perry could possibly date or marry. (Perry rules out the “marry” part, saying she wouldn’t do that again, joking about her marriage to Russell Brand.) Perry has to answer honestly for DeGeneres to donate $10,000 to the Boys and Girls Club.
“I think they all have girlfriends and baby mamas so I’m not coming for any of them!” Perry says when options like Leonardo DiCaprio, Chris Martin and Chance the Rapper appear. She also teases that she may have already hooked up with some of them, “What if I’ve actually kissed many of these people already?” the singer jokes.
