Following the news that Bobby Moynihan will be exiting “Saturday Night Live” after the end of this week’s season finale comes word that he’ll be followed by fellow cast member Vanessa Bayer, with reports surfacing that she’ll be exiting “SNL” after seven seasons.
According to Deadline, Bayer is at the end of her seven-year contract and has decided it’s time to move on from the late-night sketch show, on which she earned accolades for hilarious impressions of celebs such as Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Aniston, and original characters including Jacob the Bar Mitzvah Boy.
Meanwhile, Deadline is also reporting that fellow “SNL” long-timer Kenan Thompson is expected to stick around for next season, which will be his 15th on the show.
While Moynihan’s exit coincides with CBS picking up his upcoming sitcom, “Me, Myself & I”, Bayer’s future plans aren’t known. However, she’s been busy in recent years with extracurricular film and TV work outside of “SNL”, including roles in “Portlandia”, Amy Schumer’s “Trainwreck” and the recent comedy “Office Christmas Party”.
Bayer confirmed her departure with a sweet message on Instagram:
