Toronto’s feud between rappers Drake and Tory Lanez has seemingly come to a peaceful end.
Fans picked their jaws up from the floor this past Thursday after both artists posted photos of the two together. Drizzy, 30, captioned the photo, “The city needs more of this and less of that.” Lanez, 24, wrote “Toronto… I Told You” on his version of the pic.
Their beef, which also included Drake protege PARTYNEXTDOOR, kicked off back in June 2016. During a performance in Austin, Texas, Drake replaced the “Summer Sixteen” lyric, “All you boys in the new Toronto want to be me a little” to “All you boys with a fake ‘Controlla’ wanna be me a little.”
Many perceived the lyrical-swap as a shot aimed at fellow Toronto rapper Lanez — who released his own remix to Drake’s “Controlla.”
Lanez addressed the beef during an interview with “Ebro in the Morning”. He said there was nothing personal between the two artists: “There’s never been a personal problem because I don’t know that man.”
But the “LUV” rapper also expressed how he viewed Drake as competition. “We can’t share first place, and I’m the only guy that’s bold enough to come and really take that right now,” he said.
