The newly appointed “American Idol” judge Katy Perry sat down with a New York City radio station to announce how “proud” she is about her giant $25 million paycheck from the reality show.
TMZ reports that ABC was desperate to sign a name before announcing the reboot of the beloved talent competition. “Katy has all the leverage,” a source told TMZ. “If ABC ended up announcing the show without a judge, they’d be screwed.”
“I am really proud, that as a women, I got paid!” the singer told the NYC morning show.
With the whopping $25 million check, Perry has made more than any other judge on the show before her. With the exception of Simon Cowell at $45 million, as Cowell owned the show.
“I got paid more than pretty much any guy that’s been on that show,” Perry said proudly. “And by the way I love men, so I’m a paid woman and I’m ready for a beautiful man.”
Despite getting paid well, Perry is excited to show off her judging abilities, “I’m gonna be the same judge I’ve always been, and I’m not judgy, it’s constructive criticism.”
“The reality is I am polite but firm. I’m super realistic, I definitely have huge dreams. And I think the show is wonderful,” the 32-year-old singer continued.
No word yet on when “American Idol” will return to ABC, but we can’t wait to see Perry in action.
