One single tweet can change everything. After a 15-year break from stand-up, it appears comedian Ellen DeGeneres is making a triumphant return with a stand-up comedy special on Netflix.
The online streaming giant tweeted a proposal to DeGeneres on Wednesday saying, “Looks like it’s been 15 years since you did a stand-up special, @TheEllenShow. How about one for Netflix?”
And DeGeneres quickly jumped on board, “Let me think about it. Ok I’m in.”
Twitter lost it over the news:
The last time the 59-year-old talk show host took the stage was for HBO and she received multiple Emmy nods, for her 2001 special “Ellen DeGeneres: The Beginning” and in 2003 for “Ellen DeGeneres: Here and Now”.
No word on any details about the stand-up special, but the deal is likely to mirror the hits Netflix recently signed with other comedy stars like Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle and Jerry Seinfeld.
