The all-star cast of “Logan Lucky” has more horsepower than a fleet of Hennessey Venom GTs.
“21 Jump Street” star Channing Tatum and “Star Wars” villain Adam Driver team up as brothers executing an elaborate robbery during the Coca-Cola 600 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The two team up with a very Southern Daniel Craig to attempt the feat.
The NASCAR-inspired movie is flanked by a seasoned cast including Riley Keough, Dwight Yoakam, Katie Holmes, Katherine Waterston, Seth MacFarlane and two-time Academy Award-winner Hilary Swank.
The historic Coca-Cola 600 started up again on Sunday, May 28 and “Logan Lucky director Steven Soderbergh admitted he was never a big race car fan before directing the new movie. “NASCAR was kind of mystery to me,” Soderbergh told The Associated Press on Sunday. “I only had a very superficial knowledge of it… I knew the big names. I would watch the Daytona 500, but I wasn’t following it.”
“But the fun of this project has been learning a new sport and talking to people at all levels of the sport about the various layers that are underneath the superficial layer that someone like me would see when they watch the race on television,” he added.
“Logan Lucky” drives into theatres on August 18.
