Two of Toronto’s biggest exports put on the show of a lifetime for fans.
Drake appeared almost out of thin air at the tail end of The Weeknd’s concert at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Friday, May 26. The show was The Weeknd’s first of two back-to-back dates in his hometown and boy was the crowd into it.
After the headliner performed his hit songs “Can’t Feel My Face” and “I Feel It Coming”, Drake beamed into the arena beneath the starship lighting rig over the long runway and the audience came unglued. “I just want to know, is the greatest city in the world in the motherf**king building tonight, yes or no?” Drizzy asked the sold-out crowd.
“I came out here for one reason and one reason only: to support one of the most important artists of this generation,” the “Energy” rapper continued. “He goes by the name of The Weeknd. We started this OVO XO s**t together, and we can never let it die.”
Drake performed his new song “Gyalchester” with help from OVO crewmember Baka, as well as performances of “Fake Love” and “Jumpman”.
And the surprises kept on rolling through night two of The Weeknd’s Toronto stint. Drake made a second stop Saturday, May 27, on The Weeknd’s “Starboy: Legend of the Fall” tour and the two mixed things up.
Instead of going at it solo, Drake and The Weeknd performed their classic collaboration “Crew Love” off the record-breaking Billboard Music Award recipient’s album, “Take Care”.
