The Tragically Hip are expanding their brand to include their own line of medicinal marijuana.
In a statement on their website, the band shared the big news with their fans. “We are happy to announce that we have become partners with one of Canada’s newest, soon to be public, licensed producers of medicinal marijuana.”
They’ve partnered with a company called Newstrike, which is set to go public this Thursday. The partnership seems like the perfect pairing for the band.
Medicinal marijuana is legal in Canada, and the band want to help out fellow Canadians looking to benefit from the now-legal substance.
“This is a common-sense policy and, in our opinion, is a change for the best,” the band said regarding the Canadian government’s pledge to make recreational use of the drug legal in the next year.
“Newstrike has done its due diligence with respect to all aspects of this business. They’ve hired pre-eminent scientists and growers, developed large, well-structured sites and have the wherewithal and expertise to take this on,” The Tragically Hip said about their new business venture.
Here’s to the high times The Tragically Hip fans can expect to enjoy sometime soon.
