Chelsea Handler and Sarah Silverman have been very vocal about their dislike for U.S. President Donald Trump, and it seems the same is true for his daughter, Ivanka Trump.
Silverman and Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards sat down with Handler on her talk show “Chelsea” and chatted about their mutual disagreement with Ivanka’s unwillingness to help better women’s health in the United States.
The group wanted to make it clear that Planned Parenthood is not just a place for “abortions,” which gets “repeated by politicians who know better.”
“This whole de-funding of Planned Parenthood that’s in this bill before the United States Senate would block access for everything else we do,” Richards continued. She then added that abortions are not paid for by federal funding, therefore the bill “would have nothing to do with that.”
Richards revealed that even after sitting down and talking to the First Daughter, her advice didn’t change anything, “I talked to her and told her what we do. I explained in detail. But, so far, the White House has been a total zero on women and women’s health.”
“I think Ivanka’s job now is that she’s in charge of all women’s issues. This would be time to kind of step it up,” Richards added.
This led Silverman to not hold anything back, “I’m so dead inside when it comes to all of this,” she confessed. “I feel so disheartened. I actually saw that she follows me on Twitter and I direct-messaged her and I was like, ‘This is your chance. You’re writing your life story here.'”
But Handler isn’t as hopeful, “The fact [Ivanka] doesn’t call him out… I know all women feel this way toward Ivanka right now, but I’m like ‘You need to tell that f**king a**hole this is an unacceptable way to treat women; we’re moving backwards!’”
Silverman and Richards’ episode of “Chelsea” hits Netflix Friday.
