Look for Noomi Rapace to give Tatiana Maslany a run for her money in “Seven Sisters”, which sees the “Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” star in full-on “Orphan Black” mode to play seven identical septuplets.
“Seven Sisters” is set in a dystopian future in which a coifed dictator (Glenn Close) imposes a one child per family rule to curb population growth. This is a problem for the grandfather (Willem Dafoe) of septuplets, which he must keep hidden.
As they grow older, the sisters — each named for a different day of the week — have developed a unique system in which they can each leave their home once a week, on the day of their names, with all seven assuming a single identity when they’re out in the world.
When one of the sisters disappears, the rest of the siblings must break their rules and risk being discovered by the government if they hope to find her.
“Seven Sisters” opens in France on Aug. 23; a North American premiere date has yet to be announced.
