Pop the Casamigos tequila! Congratulations are in order for Amal and George Clooney! On Tuesday morning the couple welcomed twins, Ella and Alexander.
The babies were born in London and mom and twins are doing well. The Clooneys confirmed the happy news to ET Canada: “Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine. George is sedated and should recover in a few days.”
The “Money Monster” star dropped a huge hint that the due date was imminent when he bowed out of attending the ceremony for the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity, held in Yerevan, Armenia, a week ago. In a video he sent along, he explained why he was unable to attend.
“I really would have been [in Yerevan] but if I came there and my wife had twins while I was there, I could never come home,” he joked.
Ahead of the twins’ birth, People reports former U.S. President Barack Obama paid Amal, 39, and George, 56, a special visit.
After having met with Prince Harry at Kensington Palace on Saturday, May 27, Obama reportedly stopped by the Clooneys’ mansion in the English countryside west of London.
The visit lasted approximately four hours and, not surprisingly, a source told People “[Obama] had tons of security around him.”
