Mischa Barton Wins Courtroom Battle, Judge Bans Ex-Boyfriend’s ‘Revenge Porn’

It’s been a busy few days for attorney Lisa Bloom, who on Friday held a press conference with client Kathy Griffin about her decapitated-Trump photo controversy, and today saw her win a decisive legal victory on behalf of Mischa Barton.

Barton has been battling it out in court with a former boyfriend who, after their relationship ended, began shopping around sex tapes of himself and the former star of “The O.C.”, which Bloom has categorized as “revenge porn.”

Following the hearing, Bloom posted a photo of herself and her jubilant client, writing: “COURT VICTORY today with Mischa Barton. Distribution of the explicit images banned, ex stays 100 yards away forever.”

In a statement obtained by People, Bloom discussed the judge’s decision.

“Today we have won an important agreement, which permanently blocks the dissemination of these images. All explicit photos and videos of Mischa must be handed over to me immediately. Her ex must stay 100 yards away from her today, tomorrow, and forever. And the court will retain jurisdiction over the case in case we need further enforcement,” said Bloom in the statement,

“I am proud to declare victory for Mischa,” added Bloom. “She did this not just for herself, but for all women and girls. Mischa wants everyone to know that we have the right to control our own bodies and decide whether or not to have explicit photos out there for the world to see. If a woman wants to do that, fine. If she doesn’t, fine. The choice is hers and hers alone.”

Prior to her courtroom win, Barton visited “The Dr. Phil Show”, where she opened up about the “complete emotional blackmail” she’d been experiencing at the hands of her ex.

“It was a crime,” she told the TV host, claiming she didn’t realize she was being filmed. “It is a serious crime to tape people without their knowledge like that and I had made the mistake of putting myself in the situation with the person so I just removed myself as quickly as I could, and then it just continued to be complete emotional abuse after that for the last several, several months.”

During the interview, she also detailed the shocking way she learned her ex was trying to sell their sex tape.

“Somebody came up to me on the street … and said there’s something I need to tell you and I didn’t believe it at first, I couldn’t believe it,” she said. “Because I had loved this person and I didn’t think it was possible.”
