Nicole Kidman Threw A Rock Through A Glass Door After Humiliating And Devastating Sex Scene

One of TV’s most shocking sex scenes took a very real toll on the actress involved: Nicole Kidman.

Kidman, 49, starred as retired lawyer Celeste Wright in HBO’s dark comedy-drama miniseries “Big Little Lies”. Her character was the victim of an abusive relationship, but the bruises on her body were all too real.

“I remember lying on the floor in the last episode, being in my underwear and having just been really thrown around,” Kidman recalled in a roundtable discussion for The Hollywood Reporter. “I just lay on the floor. I couldn’t get up. I didn’t want to get up. And I remember Jean-Marc coming over and putting a towel over me in between the takes because I was just like…”

“…Too exposed?” fellow discussion member Oprah Winfrey asked. “I just felt completely humiliated and devastated. And angry inside,” Kidman replied. “I went home and I threw a rock through a glass door.”

The Oscar-winning actress called her “Big Little Lies” co-star Reese Witherspoon to express what happened. “We were staying at a hotel and she called me and she says, ‘I’ve just done the craziest thing,'” Witherspoon remembered.

“She got home from work and she had one of these horrible scenes and she goes, ‘I couldn’t get into my hotel room so I threw a rock through the window.’ And she goes, ‘I don’t do stuff like that.'” Kidman added how, “I was obviously holding all that rage and what had been done.”

The “Lion” star also opened up about being an actress with children in Hollywood: “Being a woman and having children, there are so many things I would want to do, but so much of my life is, how do I balance that? If I had my fantasy life, there are so many roles and places and things I’d want to do.”

“I’m now at a point where I have to go, ‘What is that going to cost me? And what is that going to cost the people I love? Do I want to leave now to do this?’ Men have that, but they don’t have it in the same way that we have it.”

Witherspoon laughs, “They go away and come back and they’re a hero. We go away and come back and we have abandoned our children.”

The roundtable discussion also featured Jessica Lange, Elisabeth Moss and Chrissy Metz.
