Oprah Winfrey Shuts Down Any Possibility Of A Political Career: ‘That’s A Pretty Definitive Thing’

Oprah Winfrey has no plans of ever running for office. Ever.

The talk-show queen and actress sat down with The Hollywood Reporter Awards Chatter podcast and revealed that despite many people’s wishes, it’s just never going to happen.

“I will never run for public office. That’s a pretty definitive thing,” Winfrey said. When asked if she thinks she could triumph over Donald Trump in 2020, she’s not as certain.

“I don’t know,” she said. “I don’t know the answer to that. But I will never have to know the answer to that, because I will never run for public office.”

The twist is that Trump was one of Winfrey’s biggest supporters in 1999, telling Larry King that she would be his choice for vice-president.

“Oprah. I love Oprah. Oprah would always be my first choice,” Trump said. “If she’d do it, she’d be fantastic. She’s popular. She’s brilliant. She’s a wonderful woman.”

Winfrey also discussed fame and its many aspects on the podcast. When asked if she remembers the last time she wasn’t recognized out in public, she can’t recall. “Uhhh… let’s see, I don’t know. I can’t remember when that was!”
“The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” star also revealed that she doesn’t get angry often and can count on one hand the amount of times she has raised her voice.
“I can honestly tell you there have been five times now in my life where I have been angry enough to raise my voice. I can tell you all five, and three of them were with the same person,” she revealed. Who? She said it was a male employee she had hired and fired a few times.
