In February 2016, Trevon Maurice Franklin used Facebook for more than just status updates by uploading all of the 2016 film “Deadpool” to the social network site.
The illegal upload of the Ryan Reynolds movie was viewed for free by more than five million people just days after its theatrical release.
Well, the law finally caught up with Franklin, 21, who, on Tuesday, was arrested and charged with copyright infringement.
Franklin could face up to three years in federal prison for uploading the superhero movie onto the site.
The authorities say Franklin illegally uploaded the movie under the username “Tre-Von M. King”. He is being accused of reproducing and distributing at least 10 physical copies of “Deadpool”.
The estimated value of the illegal copies was $2,500, according to authorities.
