Scarlett Johansson dropped by “The Late Show” on Friday for a chat with host Stephen Colbert about her upcoming comedy “Rough Night”, revealing that she had a bit of a rough night for real when she finally met the woman that people are calling the actress’s doppelganger.
The “Avengers” star first became aware that she had an identical double when a Reddit user posted a back-in-the-day photo of his grandmother that bears an uncanny resemblance to Johansson.
“This came to me purely because people were like, ‘Oh my god, you have a doppelgänger and it’s crazy,’” Johansson told Colbert. “So I looked at this link online. This woman looks exactly like me.”
Once she saw the photo, Johansson became obsessed with meeting the woman, Geraldine Dodd, who is now 72, and shared a video on YouTube reaching out to her.
During her “Late Show” appearance, Johansson revealed that she and Dodd finally did meet, at the “Rough Night” premiere. During their chat, she told Colbert, Dodd revealed she had imbibed before the photo was taken, when was just 22, stating that “she was also really wasted in that picture.”
Added Johansson: “And so when I found out that obviously she looked exactly like me but she was wasted, I was like, ‘You should come and we should get wasted together at the ‘Rough Night’ premiere.’ And so she came last night to the ‘Rough Night’ premiere and we did get kind of trashed.”
During the “Rough Night” premiere, Johansson posed with Dodd on red carpet:
