Charlotte Church shared some tragic news on Twitter, revealing to fans that she lost the baby that she and boyfriend Jonathan Powell had been expecting.
Two short tweets (apparently written by a rep for the British singer) announced that “Charlotte and Jonny are very sad to announce that they lost their baby. Now is a time for grieving and being together as a family.”
A second tweet adds: “We kindly ask everyone to respect that peace.”
The 31-year-old singer — who is mother to daughter Ruby, nine, and son Dexter, eight, from her previous relationship with Gavin Henson — announced her pregnancy just weeks ago, revealing she was expecting at a LGBTQ pride event in Birmingham, England, in late May when she placed her hand on her baby bump as the crowd cheered, reports the Daily Mail.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, Church opened up about her pregnancy, revealing that her third pregnancy had left her feeling more grounded than ever.
“And now it’s great, it’s lovely. I don’t know if I’ll ever be a party girl again,” said Church, who had her first child when she was just 21. “It feels very different this time around.”
