Leave it to Kendrick Lamar to release another stunning music video.
In his brand new video for “Element” off his album “Damn”, the clip relies heavily on strikingly cinematic slow motion shots in a politically-charged video that mixes violence and beauty, religion and brawls, police chases and a young boy alone in the rain. At one point Lamar picks up a pool cue and fights with his fists in the artfully-crafted video.
The video is co-directed by Jonas Lindstroem and Little Homies, a duo comprised of Top Dawg Entertainment president Dave Free and Lamar himself. Lamar’s album “Damn” was released in April with the rapper kicking off a North American tour on July 12 with stops in Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto.
Social media users were quick to applaud Lamar’s creative efforts with “Element”, labelling it “Video of the Year.”
