One of Canada’s favourite TV romances is still going strong!
“Big Brother Canada” houseguests Ika Wong and Demetres Giannitsos have gone from being locked in a house together to maintaining a long-distance relationship, with Giannitsos based in Edmonton and Wong living in Toronto. While the two are making things work with regular visits, they admit that saying goodbye never gets easier.
“It was so hard,” 25-year-old Giannitsos says of entering the newest phase of their romance. “I honestly depended on her in the house, and then I remember dropping her off at the airport, walking back to my vehicle and being like…”
“Just tell them that you were crying,” Wong, 32, interjects.
But as he explains, “We were inseparable for three months, and then to just be thrown into the real world without each other was weird.”
Since the cameras stopped rolling, the two haven’t gone more than 10 days without seeing each other, including a memorable visit to Giannitsos’ hometown of Edson, Alberta – population: 8,000!
“I took her fishing, we were hiking mountains, we were doing all the small town things,” Giannitsos recalls, adding that his friends “loved” his new girlfriend.
For now, the two have already nailed down their summer plans: binge-watching season 19 of Global TV‘s “Big Brother”, and of course, rooting for the showmances.
“I’m a huge fan of showmances now,” Wong jokes.
ET Canada recently sent the two-time “BBCan” player to L.A. to interview the incoming “Big Brother” houseguests – get to know the new cast in the video below!
