Middle school students greet Lady Gaga with screams of delight as she makes a surprise appearance in the classroom as a substitute teacher.
Lucky students at Walter Reed Middle School in Hollywood are so shocked to discover the “Born This Way” singer in their school that some doubt it is really the pop superstar.
“Wait, are you the real Lady Gaga?” one incredulous student asks her. Lady Gaga obliges by removing her glasses to confirm she is the real deal. “Yes, it’s me,” she tells the stunned students.
Lady Gaga’s classroom lesson plan includes asking her students to draw what their future looks like, asking them to share their hopes and dreams with her. “I want kids to love themselves fearlessly,” she says in the PSA which, AdWeek reports, was entirely unscripted.
Gaga filmed her appearance in the education PSA to announce her support for Staples For Students, which supports public education and teachers across the U.S. In the ad, the singer says she has joined forces with the initiative to “promote a positive learning environment” and launch a fundraising campaign for her Born This Way Foundation and ChooseDonors.org. Staples has kicked off the campaign by donating $2 million to the causes.
Staples, which is the sponsor of Lady Gaga’s Joanne World Tour, is also giving away a $50,000 scholarship and a chance to see her perform in Las Vegas. The tour kicks off on August 1 in Vancouver.
