It seems Spider-Man isn’t the only one with tricks up his sleeve.
Hannibal Buress pulled a memorable stunt at the premiere of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” on Wednesday and he didn’t even have to show up to do it.
Buress, who stars in the movie as Coach Wilson, tweeted out on Wednesday that he was in need of a lookalike who has solid comedic timing. The lookalike was needed that night and would receive $500 for his efforts. The tweets have since been deleted but Buress found what he was looking for.
Later that day at the premiere, a man claiming to be Hannibal Buress walked the red carpet. Buress tweeted out a picture of his lookalike at the premiere and told fans to check out the movie coming out on July 8.
Buress then corrected himself with a follow-up tweet:
After some social media sleuthing, it appears the lookalike’s name is Joe Carroll. He posted several pictures from the red carpet and it looks like he had a great time. According to this post, Carroll is an author, screenwriter, director, and actor from Nashville.
Buress hasn’t commented on the stunt yet but did share a screencap of the following headline:
